VideoFOCUS 15.0 Pro adds natural language search for video objects. Building on the video object search introduced in version 13.0, version 15.0 adds the ability to search a video using a natural language description or an example image, allowing investigators to locate periods of video matching descriptions such as "a person in a red jacket" or "white van" entirely on the local machine. Further details can be found here.

The video below provides a demonstration of the natural language search capability and its operation. There is also a written discussion of the search and other changes in version 15.0 in the new features link below.

Note: The installer is now distributed as a zip file. Extract the zip and run vfinstall.exe to install. See Directions for details.

DONGLE USERS:

Dongle Driver (change in version 10): The Sentinal Runtime dongle driver is no longer automatically installed.

Recently supplied VideoFOCUS dongles are driverless and do not require any driver software to be installed to function correctly, but if you have an older dongle the Sentinel Runtime should be installed to provide the driver. A recent version of the Sentinel Runtime installer can be downloaded from here or from the Sentinel Support site.

Note that if your dongle has already been used successfully on your computer with a prior version of VideoFOCUS then no further action is required because if a dongle driver is necessary it is already installed.

Installation ID: On first use VideoFOCUS will request an Installation ID as part of the process of updating the dongle to a 15.0 license. Your Installation ID can be found on the tag on your dongle.

Data Compatability:

Minumum Supported Data Version: 15.0

The appropriate version of VideoFOCUS to use to open cases older than the supported data version can be determined by attempting to open the case in VideoFOCUS Pro 15.0. The message dialog that is presented will provide the details. If you wish to work on a case that is not supported by VideoFOCUS Pro 15.0 then obtain and install the appropriate version of VideoFOCUS Pro from here.

Any previously installed versions of VideoFOCUS will still be installed and available for use after installing version 15.0

Windows may show a SmartScreen warning when you run the installer extracted from the zip file, since it detects how frequently a program has been downloaded and shows a message if it has not been downloaded by a significant number of users. If you receive the message "Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting", check the box next to "I understand the risk and want to run this app" and click Run anyway to proceed with installation.
